It's August 8th now. Anybody else give a hoot as to who is president in chess?
Kasporov as new president
The dude who was kidnapped by aliens is always a favorite.
How many times has he won it?... every election since 1995?

Hey, quit jokin' around blueemu. This is serious business. I just want to know where I go to turn in a ballot for Kasparov. Come on man, he's putting chess in the school houses. You have to like that!

I believe that Garry Kasparov is the best individual to be President of FIDE. With Garry's illustrious background and his profound knowledge of the chess world he is an ideal choice for the Presidency. Under his leadership a strong team of chess devotees have joined him, a team with the means and capacity to move things and bring about the changes needed to strengthen and give FIDE the status it deserves as the supreme world body of chess. Kasparov and his team envisage in their program a new era for chess by reorganizing FIDE as a modern international sports organization. Garry Kasparov, former World Champion and one of the greatest players of all time, has no need for fame or fortune and he cares deeply for the game of chess and its practitioners and supporters around the world.
Kasparov is perhaps the second best player of all time behind Carlsen so yeah I say yes to Kasparov.
What's this thing about aliens? We don't have to worry about them because the odds of intelligent life evolving is very small and space is so vast that even the speed of light is impractically slow. The nearest galaxy is 2.5 million light years so please stop worrying about UFOs, even if something were crazy enough to travel 2.5 million years the risk of forgetting the mission is very high and they'd likely long be dead before reaching us since the life support systems would run out.

behind carlsen? behind fischer of course!

Not kidding. Read the Wikipedia entry on the current incumbent. He's been FIDE prez since '95, and he really does claim to have been kidnapped by aliens.
Google Kirsan Illyuzhimov. Pals with Gaddafi, and claims to have been abducted by aliens. He did beat me in a blitz game though...

Yeah... it might be time for a change at the top. Either Kasparov... or... maybe... one of Kirsan's buddies. A Rigellian Space-Octopus or something.
Seriously, Kasparov has my vote. If I had a vote.
