Live Chess 3 fold repetition doesn't work

Why doesn't 3 fold repetition always work when playing live blitz?

it does work...you just have to hit the "draw" button when that happens...it doesn't happen automatically

I have seen it work sometimes others note.  Here is a frustrating game I just lost because Chess.com is full of bugs.  Starts at move 24.

I have seen it happen automatically, perhaps my oppenent clicked it.  I will have to look out for it next time, so annoying I didn't know that...

In OTB games, you have to claim 3-move repetition and 50 move rule draws, it's not automatic. Why should the computer do it for you here?

ok, fair points, I guess I've been spoilt by playing on another site where it's automatic. When you're used to that and it doen't happen it's kindof a 'wtf' moment. I bet tons of people make this mistake though, it could be made clearer to prevent these threads from happening.

It is clear -- it's right in the rules.  It's that "other site" that conditioned you to a version of chess that deviates slightly from the rules that's to blame here.

surely you're not suggesting I read the manual. Unthinkable. Inconceivable!

Well, I guess I'm saying that if you're going to insist that the rules be applied properly here you should be sure you know what they are.

3 fold repitition is NOT an automatic draw. You must claim it as a draw. Same goes for the 50 move rule.

Question: do you have to claim a 3 fold repetition as soon as it occurs or are you allowed claim later in the game? Thanks for any answers
