what? hed dominate, who cares how many players there are. He already destroys in tournaments of only 2700+ players, how would he do any worse in one with very few super GM's?
magnus carlsen= u.s open
think about it though....magnus and these super gms always play the same guys at every other tournament, they sort of learn how there opponets play
if they go play at a open, yeah there much weaker players, but they might play a crazy or weird way and throw these super gm off guard or something

you heard it here first, super GMs are susceptible to crazy play.
Im going straight to the top with this one.
He'd certainly be the favorite to win, but the reality is that players do make mistakes, even Carlsen, so there's some non-zero chance that he'd not win it, however small it might be.
The U.S. Open is a tournament, Carlsen is a person. Therefore, they are not equal.
The U.S. Open is a tournament. Carlsen is a perfectly designed chess playing machine.
Therefore yes, they are NOT equal at all.
The reason you won't see Carlsen at the US Open is that he has nothing to gain and everything to lose. He's not likely going to win every game and giving up even just a few draws to rating differences of 200-300 points will cost him rating points, even if he wins the rest of his games.
Does anyone know if Nakamura lost FIDE rating points when he played in the US Open a couple of years ago?
Think Carlsen is only interested in playing the best players in the world so unlikely he would bother.
And it may be too hot in USA for a Norwegian.
Yup, thats why the Vikings left it for Columbus
To be fair, Nakamura at his best is God-like.
Just like yourself Yere. :)

well you know i dont know god like and i havent watched too many games of him, but from a logical standpoint regurlarly outplaying GMs in worse positions (if the positional assessment was correct) and holding the highest blitz rating speaks for itself.
lets say magnus did the U.S open.... more opponets, do you think he could win it.... more chances for him to lose, i know he is not american...
