Gee, I dunno... Any game that pits whites against blacks isn't going to be a big proponent of peace.

Great, thanks for the earworm...

Azukikuru

Sorry, can't hear you over all this whistling...

I remember nigel got punched in the nose onse at a liverpool chess club tourney. We called it 'liverpool chess rules' from there on. Most of you from the area already know the scousers got they own rules

It's hilarious that someone would think martial arts dangerous in terms of religion. Most of the people I know in MA are pretty socially conservative and some quite religious. That's all I have to say about that.

I collect Jack Chick tracts for fun...

Masamune314

A pretty awful human being with a pretty awful imagination.

Had to look this up, wow.

Nigel Short to Jack Chick. (That's a pretty impressive run.)

Jesse Owens performed in front of an adulating crowd at the Berlin Olympics according to Larry Witter "Danderous Games."

Well, this is interesting: "Some countries provide an environment in which boys can do better. In Latin America the gender gap in reading is relatively small, with boys in Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru trailing girls less than they do elsewhere. Awkwardly, however, this nearly always comes with a wider gender gap in maths, in favour of boys. The reverse is true, too: Iceland, Norway and Sweden, which have got girls up to parity with boys in maths, struggle with uncomfortably wide gender gaps in reading. Since 2003, the last occasion when the OECD did a big study, boys in a few countries have caught up in reading and girls in several others have significantly narrowed the gap in maths. No country has managed both."

Fair point, well made, but as I understand it the usual answer goes something like "You don't use your penis to play chess so women should be just as good as men!!!1!!one!".

Another Nobel laureate to be attacked for supposed "sexism". I think it's just a bunch of attention-seekers who want to bring down someone way above them because they'll never accomplish anything of their own. Sad, really.

The trouble is that it's easy to "look" more moral than people when you're extremely politically correct, yet it's probably a lot easier to make lots of pc comments than it is to actually achieve something in the world that will make an impact. Someone could have done way more nice things than you throughout their life but then you can try to catch them on one ambiguous thing they say, call it sexist, call them sexist, and then suddenly you're the better person because you like women more than they do or something. That's what happens when political correctness gets carried away.

Nigel Short beats current women's champ Hou Yifan 3.5 - 2.5.

Did he acquire the "rights" to talk about women, now? Since people were saying him being worse than some woman means he can't talk about them.

SilentKnighte5

If I were Short, I'd start calling myself the Women's World Champ now.  Maybe even make a pro wrestling belt and wear it at press conferences.
