what did the banana say to the apple ?
"i get the feeling you're not a banana"
he had to make it because he didn't always have a point to start with
"So, well... no! Well, but, no chess grandmaster is normal, and that is what I want to say."
Well, Calamity, I'm a patzer (as you know) and I've rarely been called normal!
it's just that you and i are type AB normal.
i mean we do exist somewhere on the normal distribution, don't we ?
even if it's wayyyyyyy out on the tails!
I fully agree. But as for the topic of this thread, what is "normal" ?
To paraphrase a psychiatrist I once met: Being normal means that you have the same abnormalities as the majority of the population.
This sounds about right. The "majority" of avid chess players share the same "abnormalities." Check out any large tournament for verification.
Whether GMs have more of less of these traits seems largely beside the point.
Morphy,Fischer? You think they were a little off. How about those who do chess puzzles, play chess games, and roam the chess forums all day, every day.Normal ?
