Played every country in the world!!!!

It has taken me two years but I have finally played against (and beaten) one person from every country in the world. Has been a struggle to get games from each of the 241 countries particularly the smaller nations like Bhutan and some small caribbean islands. Also difficult to win against players from "strong chess countries" like those in eastern europe but have now done it.

I have made some great friends along the way too :)

That's quite impressive actually if true. It's a shame your stats don't keep track of "countries played against".

That so awesome, congratulations!

If you ever feel like writing more about the experience and or the inspiration behind it, I for one would enjoy reading about it.  You could also post some of your more memorable games in the thread - perhaps some stronger players would be nice enough to comment some of them, you've earned a few good reviews!

Here in the U.S I've read about people trying to play a rated game in each state (only know about one who was successful, there was an article about him in our national chess magazine).  Have caught myself daydreaming once or twice about what a fun, interesting and perhaps even dangerous experience it would be, but its not something I could realistically pursue any time soon.

Playing a cc game with someone from every country seems fairly doable though, you've inspired me to give it a try!

Fear_ItseIf

where can u see this stuff?

Xena1911

So how you know there are total 241 countries in the world?

gaereagdag

Vatican? Monaco? Swaziland? Laughing

Reminds me of a conference I was at once. A person had a conference ambition to shake the hand of all 1000 delegates. I was last up. I refused to shake. I am just anti-social muahahaha.

lethal_banzai

congratulations!!!

nice archievement in a world where we have forgotten what matters

Thank you. Yes there are 241 countries in the world. Funnily enough there was only 240 when I started but one came into being (South Sudan) part way. Yes got all the little ones too like Vatican City, Monaco Falkland Islands etc. i will look through some of my most memorable games and post them. One player I played 22 games before managing to beat him.

Congratulations.  Beats me.  I played someone from 148 countries here, but couldn't get any further.

Yes I did Scotland, england, Wales, northern ireland, Isle of Man individually as well as "UK" and "Great Britan".

Yes. Also got North Korea which took almost ten months to find and get someone to play with me.

splitleaf

Looks like the guy from Lesotho changed his info to North Korea.  Happen to be in a game with him atm, can I check North Korea off my list anyway?

Fear_ItseIf

i really want to know how you found this out please..

did you write down the counties youve played on a piece of paper?

netzach

You need to record a list of these games (either here or in a blog)

As members are able to change their country flag at will what you say may be inaccurate later (241 countries)

Fear_ItseIf

they should add a record to stats for countries, massive cbf to actually record the countries ive played against lol

splitleaf

And coconuts.  Wouldn't mix the two though.

EAPidgeon

Out of curiosity, it's a bit stupid of a question, but how good was the North Korean player? If you still have the game.

Greenland? Anyone in Antartica?
