Hey guys, I realize that chess is just our own little world, and there may be no applicable nature to the game.

Chess teaches one to value lots of things in real life.  One big thing chess develops is problem-solving, among other skills.  Discipline is another.

Probably one of the best lessons you can learn in chess is how to lose or win with grace.

In the first two decades of my life, I play chess a lot. My memory is very good. I'm good in math and sciences.

When I left the university and started professional life, I have no time to play chess. Just three years ago my memory became worse and my math is getting bad.

Now I play chess again. My memory isnt as great as before, but at least its improving.

It is true you cant check mate in life. But you can at least analyze the different variations that may lead from what you're about to do next.

I approach things with a chess like mindset since I've started playing a lot. I think ahead, anticipate problems, and set clever traps when I need to.
