Rotating Chess Board

Sort:
Empathy1

I was watching a video by a GM and he suggested purchasing a chessboard that can be rotated so you see see the perspective of a game you analyzing from both sides of the board. I can't seem to find this type of board online.  Anyone know where I can purchase one?   Thxs

I've never heard of a rotating chess board but devices like "lazy Susans" which rotate and have a flat surface you could put a chess board on could be used.  One of my most used chess sets is one of the cheapest: a 12" plastic magnetic folder that I've glued, doweled, and ducttaped permanently open.  Awful easy to turn that puppy around and a 12" is big enough so you get the feel of a real chessboard.  Anyway, good luck in your search.

Thanks Baddogno.  For now, I will purchase what you recomended.  I don't even know what the "lazy susan" is but it must be some type of rotating device.  Other players mentioned the same thing when I googles rotating chessboards.  That's how I stumbled on my new picture which is pretty cool

And if any entreprenuers are reading this, here is your chance to create a needed chessboard and make some extra coin.  Just send me a free one once you have them for sale Laughing

HEY,  Empathy1 , I was thinking the same thing regarding a rotating board , I believe that a ' lazy susan ' is a rotating device used in the kitchen , I would ask a woman into cooking...( your Mother , or a sister that cooks alot )           Reading the above , gave me the idea of going to a kitchen supply store at the mall !  I believe that I have seen ( and maybe even used one ) while frosting a cake . the cake ( or chessboard ) would be on a plate - like surface that rotates . ( I used to bake quite a few years back )   I hope this may help...I need to check out the mall near me , when I get time .  Later...your friend...    "EDGARVARESE

I think what he meant was to use a solid chess set that can be rotated without all pieces fall. Some plastic sets you cannot rotate without the pieces fall over.

my bundesliga chess set is a large wodden chess set with solid pieces and you can turn the board(with your hands) without any pieces move.

If both players grab the corners of the board and pull, you can rotate any board pretty easily.  We do it all the time.

ok but can you rotate the board alone with any chessboard? my chessboard I can pretty easy rotate it without help from any body.

I cannot do it with a plastic board.

as I understand up wants to analyze alone and turn the board.

Well, I can, but it's not as easy.  When I'm by myself, I usually have my wooden board, though, so it's not a big problem.
