w/l/d percentages don't mean a whole lot in chess. My record vs 1200 rated players is excellent. My record vs 1500 rated players is mediocre. I am winless vs 1800+ players.
So am I good, mediocre, or bad?
Some players like the challenge of playing much better opponents to improve. Others get frustrated with losing and stick to playing equal or inferior opponents to avoid long losing streaks.
In regards to results (w/d/l) what is the spectrum of what is considered good, great, mediocre/average, bad?
I think we would consider scoring in half of your games to be the bare minimum, and 49% or below to be bad.
