I heard that GA Thomas once said something like this: "When I play Alekhine I never know what he will do next. When I play Capablanca I always know what he will do next but there is nothing I can do about it."

Reporter: Which do you prefer, Chess or Sex?

Spassky: It depends on the position.

I have always been  admirable of the late Bobby Fisher  who was known as the

chess master ,I have played many games and have had a few good victories thru his books and have enjoyed the game with excitement

i am not a chess wizz but play the best game I can ,with high

expectations of winning most games ,almost to my expectation

The game is extremely concentrative and most intense ,,the plans and the move assignments are very strategic ,any wrong move  presents a possible checkmate , But if played with some common sense and knowlege of the

your moves  any game can be won ......

Just came across this one I liked:" Anand would play in the Olympiad, if it was held in his kitchen!"

I detest the endgame. A well-played game should be practically decided in the middlegame.  -  David Janowski

Ivanovitch But I'm not even smoking it.

Akiva Liebskind: It's a threat to me, I suppose. In chess, the threat is stronger than the execution.

I think the original scene and quote are from Nimzovitch.

This one is probably unknown, it is from the annotation of François Le Lyonnais "Beauty prizes in chess", an amazing book :
This black move is really bad. The game is leaving the field of normal chess to become a helpmate problem."

Hans Kmoch made a funny remark: Morphy perfected the combinative style, Steinitz the positional style, Tarrasch the methodical style, Capablanca the machine-like style, and Lasker perfected the styleless style.
