I am currently training to be a Russian, so hopefully my game will really take off. But then if Russians or indeed Americans are the best why is there an Indian and Israeli playing out the World Chess Championship? Baffled? I am!

1. you're on a path to greatness my friend. Good luck.

2. Anand is a russian. The media is lying to you.

3. america is nothing compared to the GREAT RÜSSIA.

Russia is nothing compared to the good old Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. And that was nothing compared to a good baked potato. With butter and sour cream! mmmmmmmmmmmm!! Throw on some bacon, and wow! Checkmate!

You only get good at refraining from making blunders by learning how to play good chess.  If you do not already know how to play good chess then trying to will yourself into learning to stop making blunders will only drive you insane.

My advice?  Learn how to play good chess.  You need a basic foundation.  Your not going to get that by just playing games.  I spent over 10 years just playing chess with doing only very little reading, and I didn't get much better at all.

Whoever tells you not to study the game of chess to get better doesn't know what they are talking about.  There is no magic pill you can take to stop making silly blunders.  It's a skill that has to be learned.  You cannot learn the skill without practice, and if you do not know the basic concepts that you must apply to avoid making those types of blunders, you will just keep making the same blunders, because you cannot will yourself to stop making blunders, like I said.

What this person should have said, instead of trying to tell you to just play chess and not read any books just "try and learn to avoid blunders," was, learn basic chess principles, and common tactical motif's, and commen mating nets.  Get your feet wet with good tactics.  Then you will be able to spot them in your games.  Spoting hanging pieces you only get better at by just learning to be careful, no magic pill either.

There are concepts you should learn about.  The overworked piece, unguarded pieces, etc.  I suggest you go to a site by Dan Heisman, I think it's danheisman.com, or whatever.  Just google his name and read everything you can on that site.  It will help.  If you want to get better you might have to invest in some books later on, but I think that site will be a big help at first, for you to get a little better.

Just play long games.  Speed chess isn't real chess.  It's just for fun.  It's only good to play if you want to get good at a lot of different openings, or practice new ones, etc.

The people I play with only play speed chess.  Part of it is the boredom factor of not wanting to wait 10 minutes just for your opponent to make one bloody move, but I still do not believe you get much out of playing a game that you didn't really think about your moves when you played it, because part of chess is learning to think about you moves, and only move after you have selected the best candidate move, after considering the possible candidate moves of your opponent for eacy of your own candidate moves.  That takes a lot longer than a couple of seconds.  I believe people that are good at speed chess are already familiar with a lot of patterns in chess, and know what to do in a position insintaniously.  They also know how to made stupid dumb moves at the most opportune time to make their opponent think and now they just gained time and will win with time.  If you think that is real chess, then play nothing but speed chess, I don't care, but the fact of the matter is, there is no GM title for blitz.

LOL that happened to me too when I first started I'm not that great now but I definitely see improvement after playing so many games. I took off a few lessons video and tactics and openings and slowly I started to improve.it's a rude awakening and to realize the chess is a life journey.

I was having a rating of 1600 constantly but all of a sudden I started loosing to every tom dick and hary of even lower rating I played my usual game but still there is no hope.I commit blunders which I never would do before.

Dude don't worry, even super computer cannot calculate all possible combinations and sequences to precision, they are just accurate; just enjoy the every loss instead of feeling angry or inferior from other players because computer itself working just permutations and combinations and chess is more than that.

You just need to keep playing practice games.  I would say that is the answer for you.  Assuming you want to win and you aren't you probably need a lot more practice.
