I wasn't his first target. He actually got beaten up by some dudes. Certainly, he was messing with somebody's sister(s). Laughing

Hold your horses, I was reffering to Mr_Tarkanians "Tinging". UndecidedCryEmbarassed

I have to say women can be jerks as well; this is a sample chat from some agressive, frustrated woman from South Africa after a lost game (1min+2s I think)
NaaiD..K..: You're a f ukking wan ker
NaaiD..K..: slow playing
NaaiD..K..: f uk off

Obviously she would have killed me if she had a chance, hahaha

Some people just disable chat before the game, to avoid apriori such situations.

Internet is full of idiots and chess.com, sadly, is not an exception. Best weapon against them is total indifference. When facing indifference they just disappear. I mean, guys, whoever surf the Net has met, at least once, a troll or a plain idiot. Indifference is the best way to deal with them since what they want is just to upset and annoy people

RICK29

Well excuse me Herzo, would you please be kind enough to be specific who you were referring to?

FEAR_THE_JOKER

I have found the scumbag who bullied little miss Jeggal and used abusive language during online chess matches..  I will be exacting justice in the near future and delivering a chess bully beatdown.

It is none of the scumbags on this forum thread although giving them a beatdown as well in the future is awfully tempting.

I think there should be some "Fair play" rating for each user.
After each game you could rate the user with a note 0,1,2,3,4,5, and in the settings you could eg. set that you want to play only with players with "Fair play" rating > 4.5 and a number of notes > 100.
The rating doesn't have to be visible but this mechanism should work.
This way you will meet less number of idiotic behaviour than now.

I am really tired with disconnectors and persons playing when material difference is > 10.
When I am in a good mood I usually promote all pawns into bishops and knights, then chase the king.

Guess what Tom..  your decision to promote your pawns to bishops and knights instead of ending the game as quickly as possible puts you into the category of a douchebag.  Think about it, your decision to do so is "idiotic" and wastes both your time and the time of your opponent.

I personally do not fault my opponents for playing a game until it's bitter end.  I enjoy the chase and expect nothing less than to have to hunt down my opponent and put the last dagger in his heart.

I actually admire an opponent who is losing and finds a way to earn a draw or turns the table to pull out a victory.  I even offered an opponent a draw instead of checkmating him because he showed great fighting spirit until the very end.  He didn't want a draw, so I put him out of his misery quickly.  What you decided to do just shows a lack of class and reveals that you're no better than the idiotic, unfair, and irritating players who you cited in your comment.

I applaud your digression and look forward to you becoming a complete scumbag by year's end.

calm down, there ain't no S on your chest, Superman.  if somebody wants to play out a complete lost endgame and let somebody promote every pawn and prolong the game, that is their problem.  it takes two to tango and they have to deal with the consequences.

People too often play to the end even when they have only pawns against my pieces. Is it a great fighting spirit? It's just boring!

In this situation I am trying to make the game more interesting (for me) by underpromoting and making some unusual checkmate using light pieces.
In some game I managed to checkmate by setting 4 knights in a column one by one.
This approach creates at least some challenge for me instead of a executing boring/shortest checkmate.

And of course this is a way of telling the opponent "You are wasting my time, so I am gonna troll you a bit". So what.

As a Joker you should understand my approach, otherwise you just don't deserve this name. (wannabe Joker hahaha)

I also have been emotionally abused on this site.  A guy I won several games against hurled abusive remarks at me, I am still dealing with it.  I was so shocked.  I haven't been here long and had no idea at all that this kind of thing went on.  Maybe if it happens again, then I must accept it as a fact of life, that some people just can not handle losing.

Thank you, yes that is an option.  I think though that I will have to learn to accept this type of behaviour, as I have been advised that it is not uncommon practice for some people to get aggressive when they lose.
