I thought chess.com doesn't run ads.

Wait, who asked you not to block ads? *rubs eyes* Are you complaining that you're not getting ads? This is the weirdest thread ever, and that's saying something.

I did too until I saw that memeberships stop ads. When I was playing free, I never saw any ads. And I don't use any ad blocking software.

It looks like ads only appear for those most likely to be annoyed by them.

You're only fooling yourself man.  Even ads you think you ignore are messin' with your head.  Studies have show that advertising that you pretend or convince yourself that you don't even see are still effecting your shopping choices.

I won't deny; I am a master of self-deception.

But, really, I was not seeing ads. After I saw that paid memberships were ad free, I went back and looked and still didn't see any ads.

I bought the membership anyway for no other reason really than to support Chess.com.

To answer Addicted-to-chess' question, i installed ad blocker because i was getting some very bad stuff popping up on another site. Chess.com asked me to not block their ads if i was going to play for free. I uninstalled ad blocker and chess.com is still being blocked for ads but i am getting them on other sites again, weird.

Segway;    "studies show that ads you don't even SEE are affecting your shopping choices".   So THAT explains that $4000. shopping charge that I told the judge I had NO memory of purchasing.   I TOLD you, your honor!

ad blockers put a host file on your disc, the file is a list of hundreds of known advertisers, if you delete ad blocker but not the host file it'll continue to block the ad's it knew about when you installed/updated it. Advertisers are starting up all the time and old ones change their name, this could be why your seeing ads on some sites and not others.

sackslap

whats the other site you visit?
