Often if I check my online games, it gets stuck and wont let me do anything. Theres an error message of some sort, and I need to reboot my phone to get it to work again.
Android live chess has very poor network resilience

The app won't shut down without killing it from a system tool. Instead it stays running and sometimes makes annoying move notification sounds every few minutes despite the absence of any active games. If I do not force terminate the process, the battery life of my device is significantly diminished.

Because the app won't properly shut down, my online browser-based games are disconnected every few minutes, announcing a duplicate session.

I remember that the android app refused to let me play black. It had no problems when I was playing white, but if I was playing black, it would be stuck in analysis mode until the game was abandoned by the server.

When you are logged in, you can press the power-button in the upper-right corner to disconnect with the live server. Then, after you pressed back (a few times), it should close the application.

Thank you SecretOfMana.
Of course, it would be nice if the Android app timed out after inactivity. Also would be nice if I didn't have to unwind X games with 3X + 2 clicks to get to the power button you mentioned. :)

Also, intermittently for no cause I can determine, sometimes there is no resign option, and only "abandon" is available.

And here's an example where the score sheet disappears, which happens frequently. It doesn't come back until I kill the app:

Do you realize, CHESS.COM, that you claim this as one of your primary features on your home page? It is incredibly BROKEN.

Looks like the iPhone app has fans too:
Best to avoid Live play in the iOS app; it's basically unusable.

The Android chess application exhibits what is likely extremely poor network resilience. Even with a full WiFi signal I often lose 20-30 second chunks of time or more.
