Yes, players are allowed to go on vacation. Premium members can have up to 90 days of vacation, and all members receive two days extra a month.
Are opponents able to pause the game?
Looks like your opponent only has 2 days and 6 hours of time left but has logged on as recently as today. So you will either win on time our your opponent will make a move soon.
As much as he likes until all his days are used up.
And your opponent only has a little over 20 hours left on vacation and won't get another day until the 15th.
vacation is utterly stupid.
Not really. A 3 day/move game can take months to finish. Pretty difficult to schedule around that.
It seems to me that “vacation time” is uncalled for and should be eliminated for a few reasons. First, we play remotely and can do so from any vacation venue. Second, reasonable people start not a game with a timeline overlapping time they’ll be away. Third, fair players will not play for days and then, when their at a disadvantage, claim (indefinite) vacation time to lock their wounds and re-trench. Get rid of vacation time or totally revamp it!

Daily games can last months and events can last years. There are times when vacation is absolutely needed.
If a player is using vacation to prolong a hopelessly lost game, they can be reported.

Is there a chess.com webpage that details everything one wants to know about Vacation Time? With all the details. If so please provide a link. If not, Chess.com should create one. Thanks.
I play a game where an opponent has paused the game and haven't moved since May!
