chess game

i am playing a game of chess with patricia murphy i have checked her in the game i think it is chechmate so does patricia but it is not saying checkmate could you have a look at the game

You have a lot of active games, and it would help greatly if you provided a link to the particular game in question.  However, you're lucky I have no life and went through the pages of games to find the correct one.

For the game in question, you may want to review the full rules of chess - particularly those regarding the movement of pawns and the special ways in which they can move and capture.

Hi Paul - in your game against Patricia, it is not checkmate because of the "en passant" situation - black pawn takes g3 white pawn!  Hope that this helps - Siouxie

How nice explaination siouxie. Omnipaul found it to much work. En passant is very dificult for beginners. Thank you!
