This comment was deleted but it is still open for edits, so how can you edit a comment that is not there, sort of like rewriting history.It is now 10:34 local time in Chicago. This comment is timestamped the time it was entered before it was deleted which is to say the time stamp is unwritable.

ok done with examples please does anyone else agree or is this a cya mechanism so you can say "I never said that" go back and ouote me" look at my comment closer, you just thought I wrote that. So is a deleted comment .....

You know to really see the impact of this, wait till some one "quotes you" and you go back, delete the initial comment, make desired wording change, then write a new comment and say "Hey, I did not say that" lol

Once comment deleted, it cannot be edited... I agree.

Once you delete a comment, you can edit it after a substantial amout of time. So till they change it to something like comment removed as something users can't write to, I would say staff enter "User removed this comment" and not allow writes to that comment field again. I don't understand why the field is still open for changes. Comments please!
I will probably get some fancy player comments on this!
