Question about a feature in tactics trainer.....please help

You know when you've completed a tactic puzzle in tactics trainer that shows the rating of the problem you just solved/failed......? I get what that means it's pretty straight forward......but what about the thing in parenthesis? Like this for example: (-5) or (+6) for example...what's that? It comes up right next to the rating score of the problem. Can anybody clarify this for me? It would really help. Thx :)

Thanks for clearing that up! :)

Oh no wait.......I actually meant something else. I just didn't want to post it because.....well, it's still bugging me. The points like (-5) or (+6), if they are beside the "My score" thing, then they are meaning how many points you got or lost. But what if it's beside the thing that says "problem rating" ? What does that mean?

The rating of each problem depends on how successful the membership is at solving it.  Solve the problem and your rating goes up, but the problem's rating goes down.  Of course what with partial credit it's rarely quite that simple, and because of the Glicko rating system, the points given and taken away may not seem immediately obvious.  Still, the basic formula is the same: you gain points for solving problems and the problem loses points off its' rating at the same time.

Wow, thank you so much baddogno! Thank you so much, it's nice having people here to help each other out. For that, I thank you Wink

Have fun with chess.com! In fact, I'm beginning to love tactics trainer more than the actual games I play hehe
