Shuffle Chess?

Wasn't FYI the name of the show that Murphy Brown was on? I'm pretty sure it was, but I have no idea how that relates to the original post.

FYI is "for your information." It would be interesting, but I doubt www.chess.com will do it until many more improvements have been made to this site. If you look at the logo it says the this site is still in its beta version. Let's get out of that before we consider looking beyond chess.

Yes, agreed Feldmm1. There is still much more to be done before chess variants are introduced on the site.

Bobby Fischer would say that shuffle chess isn't a chess variant, just chess without the opening theory.
That being said, I think regular chess is just fine for now.

Hah-- when I read the title, I thought you wanted to start a pool of games in which your opponent (and side of the board!) is randomized after every move. You get 8 (or some other number) people to agree to start matches, and the matchups are randomized after every move. With the level of statistics compilation sophistication here on the site, you could actually keep pretty close tabs on each player's individual performance and determine "winners" based on your choice of criteria. A silly (but interesting!) way to play chess.

Yeah, me too. About the Chess960 schuffle variation... well, its almost chess, right?, and it seems like a lot of fun! Where can I try it?
I realized this is an old post, but we still don't have shuffle and heck yeah I think we should!!!
I used to play on a site named chesscube.com, it has shuffle etc., but I switched to chess.com mainly because you don't have to be a paying member to watch your old games... however, at least you didn't recieve 93892849123 ads and spam in your inbox about upgrading -_-'
Hey Eric. Any plans to make this an option? Would be kinda cool, though, IMO, it should have a seperate rating.
For anyone who doesn't know what the heck I'm talking about, Shuffle Chess is a variant where the pieces on the back rank (everything but pawns) is randomized. There are various different ways this is done, one of the most popular being "Chess960" which has certain limits on the possible setups (king must be between both rooks, bishops must be on opposite colors). I don't like the Chess960 variant though because the castling rules are just too weird. IMO (for whatever it's worth), shufflechess should be without castling.
IMO = in my option, BTW
oh, and BTW = by the way, FYI
