I think its the internet connection or something is wrong with live chess thats why they abandon, it happened when my computer froze.
Abandoning game

Saves a few seconds - why click resign then confirm, when you can just exit the window? =) I dont abandon my games, i keep playing for a win.

Sometimes it is lag, but if they really just quit like than its just rude. You shoudn't care so much anyway since the points are still given to you.

One guy left the game window open for like 10 minutes without doing anything (moving or answering the chat) when he realized he has lost... that's an even worse way of resigning :D

I don't mind if people abandon games, since it's exactly the same as resigning to me, the only difference being that it says "player has abandoned" instead of resigned. What I don't like is when people let their time run-- that's just being an asshole and it wastes everybody's time.
Hah, once I actually had one guy wait for the last seconds to make a move, in hope that I left the window unattended so he could get a win. That is borderline dishonest.
Alzhaid- is leaving the game window open bad? I do it all the time- it lets opponent know I am about - and waiting for his move. If its my move- he may have to wait abit but at least he knows I have not left the house for two days!

He's talking about live chess, where people just let their time run out instead of resigning.
bruiser419: u r quite right. decent thing to do when u have to abandon a game 4 any reason is 2 resign. those that let the clock run instead have no ethics and usually have no chess talent either... so u have my vote!

I've a suggestion for members who abandon the game:
Block them immidiatly.
If all of us block these members, they play only between them.
And we resolved.
I understand it's their right, but I'm getting sick of people abandoning the game when IMO they are losing. This is the second or third time in a row where we've played 20 moves or whatever, and then they just abandon the game. I don't think it's a lag issue or anything, I guess they feel better if they just quit as oppossed to resigning?
