All the time

kohai

Hi! Thank you for your reports!

What is the average time of disconnect (how long does the message dialog stay on the screen)? Is it a few seconds, 10 seconds, 20 seconds or even more?

And how often does it happen for you?

learningthemoves

For me it is usually anywhere from between 1 minute to 4 minutes including the time it takes to repair the connection, get new ip and reconnect.

It's the same as the others report...All of a sudden the box pops up, says "connection interrupted", the game fades into the background with the e-chess clock/timer still visible. The timer displays the opponent's time counting down.

Then I look at the connectivity icon on my laptop and notice I've been disconnected from the internet.

This doesn't happen at other sites and it only happens here when I'm playing a "live game".

I know it sounds crazy, but it's true.

Then after the connection has been reconnected to the internet,

the screen says, "This game is no longer active" "Game Abandoned"

and it shows I lost.

Sometimes I can connect back fast enough to just lose on time or squeak out a victory blitzing out moves real quickly, but it's definitely enough of a problem to warrant looking for a fix I think.

I'll be sure to time the duration of the message dialog on the screen next time it happens and come back here to update with the details.

Thanks for being responsive and proactive. I know you are busy enough as is without having to put out technical fires, so it is much appreciated by all who have experienced this bug I'm sure.

Is this with wifi on the laptop?

Are you able to confirm the same happens on a desktop with a cable connection under same circumstances in live chess?

And please don't worry about the 'busy day', I'm here to help :)

learningthemoves

I'm not sure about cable modem for desktop as I use wireless wifi on the laptop.

The average time of the disconect is at least 2-5 minutes although a few times it reconected in less than a minute and I was able to complete the game. I am using a desktop with a cable connection. I've been using Chess.com for several years and this has only been an issue for the past several days.

kohai

Are you using wifi?

A proxy server?

Anonymous surfing?

Which area are you in?  (You can message me privately)

Do you roughly what day/time this happened? (so we can check logs)

Did you lose connection completely or just to live chess?

WSAEME

It happens to me more often in my hostel than at home. But at both places I have a cable connection (and the funny thing is the connection at the hostel is faster than that at home).

Connection is lost just for the chess.com game. Happens at any part of the day. Not wi-fi, we use cable connection.

Do other people there share the same connection you do?

mkchan2951

similar thing happens to me 'request timeout' but it goes after 4-5 refreshes.

piotr

Well, that wasn't helpful whatsoever.

mkchan2951

I have my own connection. Its a hostel for 300 or so people, and everyone has been provided a cable for their personal use.

Just lost another one due to this. This time, there was 20 seconds left on my clock and 13 left on the opponent's time. The box popped up and said connection interrupted. Then my laptop disconnected from the internet. Then I clicked to connect. Then when it connected, it showed my opponent had 20 seconds on his clock and that I had zero.

The system said I lost on time.

So with the inconsistent time shown on the timers, it's hard to know exactly how long, but I'm thinking less than a minute this time.

kohai

learningthemoves, can I ask who your isp is please?

scheppy

im having the same thing like crazy, ive prob lost about 10 games on this issue in about 2 weeks, its really started to p me off

Dino

I have same issue. My points drastically came down below 1200 from 1480+ In addition to this now the server restricted my play as penalty assuming I have abandoned the game intentionally and not followed fair play. You may get the same in short times if you gets the same number of times, apart from loosing games we will not allowed to play.

aroan

I have exactly same issues as learningthemoves explained on intrupted messgage and game getting lost

In addition, panelizing us for not playing fair play

Certainly Kohai (and thanks). I've been using AT&T for internet service.
