Live Chess Move Delay

Sort:

Is this normal that every move takes about two seconds in live chess, no matter how fast I respond to my oppenent's move? Is it because of my computer speed, or membership type? I have pretty high speed internet. Majority of my lost games were due to time. It seems people playing the bullet can have a few moves per second. What am I missing?

Hello! Well, it could be due to lag (bad internet connection) or it could be that you are not using premoves.

I can understand the bad internet can cause infrequent delay, but not all the time. Could be the browser? I am using firefox.

they are probably using 'premove'  see here....

It seems the premove does help, particularly at the end of the game, when you are way ahead of material but short of time. Thanks guys.
