Hello Everyone!  I have never played Live Chess before.  I would like to give it a try, but when I see the list, it shows, different numbers after each player (ie: 10/10) etc.  Does this mean I have to move every ten minutes? What if I cannot stay online?  I welcome your response, as I think I am ready to try a live game, even tho my score is weak!

We have start somewhere, and since I am alone this holiday....now is the best!

This is a good place to start

The link above has sub sections that will explain about live chess, how to create a new game and what the 10|10 type numbers mean etc...

If you need any help with this, please let me know, i'll be happy to help :)

Also, as a new member to online chess; you might want to try online games as compared to live. Live games are right now, right here. You have to stay at your computer for the duration of the game. Online games are asynchroneous with a time limit. Meaning you can play a game with 3 day moves for example. Meaning you can take up to three days per each move. Sometimes when people are on, you are able to make several moves a day or even finish a game; however, if you cannot get back to the PC even for a few days; it is no problem. I have friends that have games that have a move every 10 days. They usually do not require that; however, if they are traveling unexpectedly for work or something; this method works beautifully! I guess you have been playing those games though; not sure!
