Why did my ranking jump over 100 points?

So I have played thousands of games so my points shouldnt have jumped that much. I was rated about 1420 on my standard time and when I sat down today to play a slow game I was rated 1565? Ive never broken 1500. Did they change the ranking or something? I noticed one of my friends was ranked unusually high too.

I have the same problem. from 1160 to 1315.Besides, while playing I'm listening an advertisment about how I can teach a dog to shake hands

Thanks guys. Im glad Im not crazy. Ive never seen an add that made noise. That would be annoying. I feel bad that I didnt earn the points but it looks cool. I feel smarter already. Ive heard chess.com is roughly 200 points lower than someone actual rating. Maybe they are trying to fix it.

I have the same question.  My rating was 1638 when I logged off last night and was 1938 - give or take a point - when I next logged on this evening. What happened?

That should answer your questions.

Just did a search and found out chess.com did this because the ratings were too low.  Basically, there weren't enough points in the system to accurately rate players.

I assume the thought is the points will be distributed to those who deserve them as we play.
