The exact same thing happened to me. I lost on time then the pop-up said "drawn due to insufficient material". I was 1 rook up and couldn't checkmate. We decided to rematch.
Why insufficient material?

It's a chess rule, use the forum search box for insufficient material and there will be a million hits.

Hi, yesterday I played this game with my friend and when he runs out of time, the game ended with result "insufficient material". I don't say, it is bug, maybe I don't have so many knowledge, but in this case, can someone tell me, why this endgame is marked as insufficient material? I just want to know, if I have some drawbacks.
Additional info: I had only 2 seconds and he had 00:00, so I though he will lose on time. Thanks in advance.
