It's been great watching the slam dunks in these finals.

Malone & Stockton never won a title if my mind isn't gone yet.

NO...that's true.  but they were a pretty awesome duo.

the u.s. open. phil mickelson striking a moving ball should have resulted in disqualification. it did not, because he is a star-just as tiger was not dq'd in the masters years ago stating he took an incorrect drop. i think part of it was him making a point that the usga regularly screws up a major championship that is over 120 years old.

the usga has a habit of screwing up regularly at their events (the pga has nothing to do with this event).  incorrect rulings and course setup are the biggies. to the course setup, it is the usga that determines it for these events. in other words, they bring in their own people and dictate how it will be. well...in 2004, this same course was played for the u.s. open, and the usga messed it up so badly that, on one par 3, players were aiming for a greenside bunker because they knew they could not stop the ball on the green. knowing they screwed up, the usga then-during the round-watered some greens in between groups! so, players following the watering had a better chance to score.

one would think that they would have learned from it, but, no. today, the director of the usga stated they were unprepared for the windy conditions. what? the course is next to an ocean! this is the fifth time it has been held here!

the biggest reason for the screw-ups, in my opinion, is that the usga wants to have the toughest course the players play all year. they haven't "gotten it" for many years. the masters has been won with a score of -13. but, no, the u.s. open must be the toughest! the open championship courses in scotland, ireland, etc. regularly produce worthy champions with many under par for the tournament.
