I'm in the same boat, although with a standard tower. My first doubt was when I learned I'd need some other software to play DVDs. Now I've read that the whole media player is gone? I think I might just hold on to 7 until it's no longer supported and I have to buy another craptower at the mall.
Windows 10
I mean if w7 has everything u need, that's fine. I personally would get w10 tho, just bc it's newer. I think they have the new tablet/laptop which sounds really amazing and it comes with w10.
After upgrading to windows 10 the chessvideos (fritztrainer) with the chess media sytem doesn't work? Have someone the solution for this problem? Thank you.
I just downloaded Windows 10 last night. It took about 20 minutes, I think? I've been using Windows 7. It said during the download that Windows 10 is like having Windows 7 and 8 at the same time. It looks pretty neat and it was free so nothing wrong with it for my little purposes:)

I've been using Windows 10 since it came out. Initially there were some compatibility problems with posting messages to the forum on this site and sometimes playing videos, but chess.com appears to have fixed all that. I don't have any problems with W10. I love it. When I'm not working, I like going into tablet mode, and snapping my browser into one side of the screen to play in Live Chess and snapping the Groove Music application into the other side of the screen. There's a lot of stuff I like about it. I think it will take time for people to discover it all and get used to it, but I find it much faster and actually a lot more secure.

Hi Peter
Install windows media player on your system and then make it default player for video and then you are on . (start -> settings -> system -> default apps -> Video (windows media player )
I've been on Windows 7 for-ev-or as my OS.
Question: Are there any advantages to downloading Windows 10 if I haven't had any issues utilizing Windows 7 for what I utilize my laptop is for ?
