Conditional moves

When playing multi-turn based games, I enjoy making conditional moves through mate.  It gives me a chance to see if I can figure out what my opponent is thinking.  After my opponent makes the “correct” move, my conditional move is made.  When my opponent makes the “incorrect” move, I need to make a new move.  Is there a way to see how many conditional moves were made? I’d like to know how well I predicted my opponents’ moves.

Isn't it true that the game doesn't come back to you until one of the conditional moves is not made?

If you mean you can't tell how many conditional moves were triggered before the opponent resigned, I think I have the same complaint.

Resign? I enjoy your optimism. I meant more of when my opponent deviated from the line that I know they should have stayed on.

@Mark...let's say that I set up conditional moves for the next 9 moves.  How can I tell that the conditional moves only went to move 4 as opposed to move 7?  I know when my opponet stops following his best moves (the one that I set for him), but I don't know when.

Sort of. For example, my opponent makes a careless move (over optimistic on my position) on my 4th conditional move (not the 4th move of the game) of 7 conditional moves.  Unless I specifically make a notation in the "note tab" I wouldn't know that 4 of the moves followed my condition. I hope that makes more sense.  It would be nice if I was able to see how my opponent followed the line that I thought he was going to choose.  Part of the exercise is to help with OTB games.  When I have seen my opponent's prior games, I try to figure out a pattern of play.  By setting conditional moves, I can work on this skill.

This is barely making any sense at all, if any, not to be rude. Do you need to use the 'notes' section in your correspondence games to record this?

Zig: I have been recording the conditional moves in my note section, but was wondering if there was a better way.  My current way is a duplication since I already told chess.com what the moves will be. I hope that clarifies.

I understand what you're saying Aaron.

You can just look at the moves at the right of the board, you will see their last few moves. ANy moves that don't match your conditional were not played. Smile
