Do other translators have prolems?

Hi everybody Smile My name is Fulvio, I'm italian and I'm trying to translate Chess.com. I would like to know if other translators have faced problems with some words and phrases like I did. Thanks.

Dutchday

Well sure. Chess.com just asks for loose phrases which are then brought together to form a whole page. The out of context translations look ridiculous together of course. We can only hope this is fixed over time.

Hi Dutchday Smile Yes, I think I understand what you mean, but in my opinion that's half a problem: I always try to follow the orange sparkling dots which appear around the loose phrases and often manage it. I rather have problem with those circled numbers (html) they give us to translate time periods like for instance 12 days. The small number and the unit of measure are linked together and as a result is a translation with terms in both languages, English and Italian, 12 days giorni instead of 12 giorni. Does it happen to you Dutch too?

Dutchday

I did not know what all these tags even were, but I managed it after doing it wrong a couple of times. So if it looks wrong just correct it later. If there is some bug you can of course report it.

Thanks again...is there an international translators group? It would be useful to discuss about common problems and how to try to solve them...

Dutchday

Well, not that I know of. there is this:

Frankly I doubt non native speakers of Italian would be very useful if you were discussing specific problems.

I'll take a look Wink

If there is one thing that really makes me laugh is the differece between #views and #comments Laughing...ok...it means other translators have zero problems!
