Petition "Force resign"

I would say there should be a force resign button, for platinum members. all in favor?

LAexpress12

oh, and you can use this force resign button at any point in the game, after the both players have moved more than 3 times.

Feryll

I'll admit, you had me for a sentence or two there, lol

LAexpress12

I am dead serious, whippersnapper! LOL

Conflagration_Planet

I should just be for diamond members who have the word wood as part of their avatar names. LOL.

KyleJRM

It should appear if your opponent still has time left to make his move, but has used more time than is reasonable for the position. Reasonable being defined by you, of course.

benxar

Should only work if your rating is higher than the other person, since using it against higher rated, more skilled players would be unfair.

ok another addition: this only works if your username is 19 letters long, and starts with "Full" MORE people MORE i need this petition!!! So i can win games with out trying!

i was with you right up to this.  you are going to just get a bunch of people suddenly changing their names, and Full_Windows-seven_ is even harder to spell the current incarnation.

OK, so let me get this straight.

If I sacrifice my queen for a forced mate in 4 moves, my opponent can click on the forced resignation button because he would claim he is up a queen?

Where would all the brilliances go? What would happen to Philidor's Legacy? Not to mention queen trades, as the first person who traded a queen would be down a queen for 1/2 a move?

Having a forced resignation button would run into many problems. This is just one that interests me the most.

there was no mention of a player needing to be up material to force a resignation.  just whenever you feel like it you tell the other person that they lost.  well, if more than three moves have past, you are higher rated, a platinum or diamond member, and possibly if your name starts with "full" and is 19 characters long.  i object to the last one, as previously stated.

So what other factors would indicate a forced resignation is to be issued?

These are other factors I considered, along with their "refutations".

If you see a mate, why not play it out?

If a person is much lower rated then why play the game? Just use the forced resignation button at the start so you don't waste time?

Its hard to see what other factors would compel a player to use a forced resignation button. Maybe I'm missing something. Clue me in! ;)

Barefoot, it would be silly to use the force resignation button against a lower-rated player without playing any moves.  What's the fun there?  Where's the joy of the game?  Forced resignations should not be available until after the third move, where a superior player should have a superior position and playing the game out any more than that would be a waste of her time.

Max_B

Why would you want to  force resignation?  If you are a higher rated and stronger player, can't you just Mate your opponent?

I prefer to think of April Fools day as coming up fast.  You can never start preparing too early for April Fools.
