Tactics trainer is very buggy

Sort:

Hello. Nowadays TT is very annoying. It often resets to initial position after a move and i need to make a move for opposite side. When i play the same move as TT played then it writes that this move is incorrect. I've lost many point this way. In past it also was buggy but not that often. TT was one of the reasons why i've bought membership. I'm disappointed. It's poor compare to competitors. And live chess is slower as well.

How long since you've cleared your browser cache?  First thing to do when things start going awry.  No guarantees of course, but it's worked for me and maybe it will work for you.

How can it be connected? Haven't you experienced such thing? Why don't i have such problems in other sites?

Are you sure you're looking at the right board? You may be looking at the wrong board... which is why you're having to move for the "opposite" side...

What kind of right or wrong board? I see only one, board with puzzle. Smile

Very buggy, huh? I don't see the resemblance.

Most programs have to be installed on your computer.  Chess.com's is browser based, so no client software.  The good is it's almost impossible to hack, the bad is that it is very memory sensitive.  If you don't clear your browser's cache then there is less and less memory until finally things start to break down.  I remember one member here who had gotten into the habit of reinstalling Chrome every month as a way of restoring performance.  She was pretty happy to find that clearing your cache was much easier.  As always, your mileage may vary...

I don't use chrome and experience such problems only in chess.com. Please, don't teach me computer literacy.

You'll have the same problem with Firefox or Explorer.

I've cleared cache but problem still exists. I would be surprised if it had gone.

Chesstempo.com has a much better TT!

Thomas9400

i have the same problem with it showing that exact move i did and saying i was wrong

Hi guys! Saaaaaame problem. Many times, with cache, without cache, Firefox, Chrome or having a coconut juice.....

Omega_Doom

It's extremely annoying especially when i have made many moves and it makes such thing. I'm done fighting with it. Sorry chess.com but your TT is crap, not worth spending my time.

Gamificast

I've complained about the TT many times in the past but nothing gets done. You are right - it is extremely bad at times, and there is nothing wrong with my computer or browser.

  1. I have experienced the "reset to initial position glitch" before, and it is both hilarious and annoying when it happens.
  2. It gives massive point reductions for failing hard puzzles, and tiny point increments for solving hard ones, even when you solve them quickly.
  3. It's extremely inconsistent with the difficulty of the puzzles it gives.
  4. It lags a lot, but then again, so does everything on this site, due to chess.com constantly loading CPU hogging ads.
  5. It only gives you 5 puzzles a day if you are a free member. But judging by how bad the TT is anyway, I don't really care tbh.

I can add that chess.com board game is not ideal as well, it's easy to make a mouse slip if you are not very precise with mouse. When I play bullet there is always a chance for a mouse slip(for blitz i use point and click). The funny thing is chess.com invests so much effort into v3 although it should be focusing on bugfixing. I don't care how good v3 is if chess board is not functioning as it should. The only reason why i'm playing here because it has more players than any chess websight.

The site is focussed on bug fixes but only in v3. Mouse slips in blitz are normal amd not really something the site can do anything about.

But TT doesn't have anything with v2 or v3. And I don't mean usual mouse slips. Have you played on a small board quickly? You need to click very close to the square center otherwise there is a big chance to play a wrong piece which is near to the actual piece. It start getting messy If you play fast and premove many moves.
