In vote chess two groups face each other. Those players of the group that participate in the game form a team. Each team member has one vote/per move and the move that gets most votes inside the allocated time limit gets played.
For this to work it's important that vote chess team is well organised by which I mean that the moves are first discussed and voting is only done when the team has agreed about the best move or moves (quite often there are of course several moves of seemingly equal value). There seem to be quite many strong players participating in vote chess and it can be quite instructive to observe their thoughts in the discussions.
