I recently started to play online chess (3 days/move), and noticed I have not got any working system for analyzing the games, and for learning. Though 3 days a move, I have used maybe a total of some 5 to 10 minutes.e.g. I have been idle for 48 hours, and then...

As a diamond member you have all kinds of legal resources to get you at least into a playable middlegame.  There are some wonderful videos on most of the major systems as well as the Explorer.  I check out a few other databases as well (Google free chess database).  If it's a new system I'm playing I boot up HIARCS chess and play rapidly through a few dozen master games in the position just to get a feel for typical plans, pawn structures, and piece placement.  I'm not sure it's really playing chess since it's a lot closer to doing research at the library until we're out of book, but I'm too damn lazy to study theory until it pertains to an ongoing game.  Eventually of course I have to play chess, but it's sure easier to do if you're well into a playable middlegame.  OK maybe I over do it, but in one of NM aww- rats' videos he credits that kind of work for preparing him for OTB as well.  I believe his standard was a minimum of 2 to 3 hours analysis and research for each move.  Some folks of course just treat it like OTB and just do analysis, but no research.  I'm sure you'll find a comfortable balance.  Good luck!
