Running my own closed tournament

Hello everyone,

I intend to create a closed tournament (actually 2 teams playing against each other, 5 boards, 2 rounds - one round for each color).

Can you please show me how I do that? I probably need to create my own group first (10 players including myself), but then I want to create the above setup I explained).

The games will be live, and played at the convenience of the players.

Finally, is there a way to play a game with longer time control than G30?

Many thanks in advance for all the help.

When you say the games will be live, I assume you mean on Live chess.

If so, your plan of creating a group is a good one and you will create the pairings manually and just tell the players what the pairings are and they can provide you with the results.

The only kind of user generated tourneys are for Online/Correspondance.

Martin,

Many thanks for the clarifications, you got exaclty right what I intend to do.

Can you please elaborate on how I create the pairings manually?

Thank you again!

Basically, in your group you'll just have a post detailing which players will be playing each other. Then they will have to schedule a time to go into Live and create the appropriate challenges themselves.

That said, when creating challenges in Live with requested colors (not random), the only option is for unrated games. I thought I would mention that, in case you weren't aware.

Also, I realized you had a question about time controls longer than G30. There is a custom option that will allow longer time controls. I have never tried a direct challenge to another player but I assume you can customize it then too.

Thank again, Martin. I think I'm 100% covered now. On to the group creation now Cool
