Hi all

Does anyone know where to get chess books in HK? Online? (Amazon?)

Anniearthur

Did you mean like " Chess for dummies" books? I had one and I get it from PAGEONE shops.

My system by Aron Nimzowitsch is very good, you can get it frmo Amazon.  PAGEONE is good but its expensive as are all bookshops in HK.

"e books" are readily available :)

hk is a pretty small place, sometime maybe we can meet up at the hk chess federation! and have some fights :)

That would be great!

Thanks for the tips. Ebooks sounds especially good. What's a good source for them? I've done some searches for recommended books in Amazon, but their Kindle selection appears to be very lacking.

Meeting up sounds great. I'll be game.

What I mean by "e-book" is actually

BTW, where can I buy a nice chess set in Hong Kong? The best one I can get is from Toysrus, which doesn't look nice enough.

Do you know "Yue Shing"?  They sell chess sets made in India. They have two shops, one in Wanchai opposite Tai Yau Shopping Centre and the other in Yau Ma Tei, next to Oriental Watch Company.

Yue Shing 中文名係乜? thank you.Smile

HI, I recommend winning chess series by yasser seirawan microsoft press.

Swindon book store should have it.  It's a great chess series for kids and adults alike.

Good Luck!

The chinese name of 'Yue Shing' is '御聖'.  You can google it to find out the address.

Chemwong

Be reminded though, HKCF does have meeting on MOST Monday but NOT EVERY Monday.

AS FOR 御聖

The Yau Ma Tai shop is closed. I got visual confirmation of the "last 4 days" @ 2 months ago. Hope the one in WanChai still survives.

Unfortunately, the WanChai shop is also closed.  Just I didn't know the Yau Ma Tai shop has also been closed, it is a pity.  Thanks for informing.

Woops I accidentally deleted my comment. Are there chess books in Hong Kong by the way. If not where do HK chess players get books? Maybe I can help.

I bought my chess books from Amazon. Or you can try 中華書局in Yau Ma Tei for Chinese translated chess books but there is not too many choices.

You can borrow it from hkpl.gov.hk and collect book from local library for a very low charge
