Using the Chess.com app on your Android tablet?

My son got an Archos 101 last weekend, and I got the market on it yesterday, so I will give it a try. This will be Wifi only, as the tablet does not have 3g.
Thanks!

Installed the app, played a 1 min. game, and lost ;-) So it worked pretty well. On my phone (an Huawei U8800/Ideox X5) and earlier on my HTC Wildfire it happened that the live chess did not connect at first try, but it certainly did on 2nd or 3rd. All these were running on Android 2.2 and Wifi. I will start it on 3g tomorrow at work, just to see if it makes any difference.

I'm writing this from my Xoom with Android 3.2
Have BIG trouble playing live chess in chess.com client :-(
Every single time i try to click onto the "live game" tab, i'm getting a "connection/login error" message and the app is kicking me back to login screen...

I'm having trouble on my Xoom 2 Media Edition.
More often than not when clicking on "live game" tab I get "connection/login error" even though I have previously logged in. One time I left the message and it changed to "Live chess server is currently unavailable". Either way, I get dumped back to the login screen from where I can always immediately login. I can access other areas such as tactics.
At time of writing I now always and instantly get "connection/login error" when clicking "live game". On previous occasions, I have got through and issued a challenge. However, after being told I successfully issued the challenge nothing happens. I just see the same screen for issuing challenges and nothing else. There are no options on the menu icon.
Hope this helps. Good luck...

Update! I tried once more and actually got a game going. Then got "game aborted" -- probably by the opponent as I took a while to make the first move. So I've issued a new challenge but again nothing is happening -- not like online where challenges are quickly snapped up. It's hard to know what's happening as after creating a challenge ("Congratulations! Challenge Sent!") there is no feedback as to what's going on and it's weird that I'm on the same screen where I can just keep issuing challenges with no apparent effect. Aha! I issued another challenge and a game started. Opponent moved, I moved, game aborted. I get the feeling the opponent is not seeing my moves or the system is aborting.

...next time I played, I played in the browser interface and got a stiff warning about not aborting too much! Obviously, some of these android problems have been interpreted by the server as me aborting.

Thanks for the feedback, guys... Keep it coming if you've got it. We're working on making this better.

I cannot seem to play live chess on my android phone or my new galaxy tab. The phone is an HTC sensation running cyanogenmod 7.1 (gingerbread 2.3 based). This was working great until recently.
My new galaxy tab 10.1 has never successfully connected to live chess.

When it connects to live, what do you see as soon as you tap on that 'play live' button? Are you able to get a game and it disconnects? or are you seeing error messages?
Can you go into settings /applications /manage applications / chess.com and let me know which app version are you running on the droid and tablet?

Ahh great (well, no not great), but now you've said that i can say i was able to reproduce this myself yesterday. It was a weird one. If i have it on portrait, then turn to landscape the error disappears and i could play (and vice versa), but thats on wifi. If its on mobile, its not so easy to get rid of the error message.
I have sent all the details to the app developer who is now investigating this and looking for a fix.

The 'open challenges' is where you see direct challenges sent to you, not a list of all open challenges created by others like the graph on the web shows.

My wife got a brand new Galaxy Tab 10.1 for her birthday . . . I'll give it a try there, to see how it works compared to the Archos tablet.

Hi guys,
We're getting some reports of people having trouble signing into Live Chess using Android tablets (like the Xoom or Galaxy Tab), and we're trying to figure out how widespread this is...
If you have an Android tablet and play (or try to play) Live Chess via our app, please shout out in this forum! Is it working for you - or not? What kind of tablet are you using and does it matter how you are connecting (3g vs wifi)?
Many many thanks if you can take a minute to add your thoughts!!
