Twobit:  There are likely several more countries that have a woman in their top-10 of their country.

Just from looking at the current top-30 list for women (http://chesspro.ru/guestnew/looknullmessage/?themeid=110&id=15&page=777#bp), I assume that several more exist, and many of them turned out to be correct, when I checked on http://ratings.fide.com/advseek.phtml:

    • India: Humpy Koneru (2589) is #8 in India.  Outside of the Indian olympic team, plus Vishy Anand, surprisingly perhaps, there aren't that many high-rated players in that country.
    • Slovenia: Anna Muzychuk (2583) is rated #3 in her country, presumably just behind Alexander Beliavsky and Luka Lenic...
    • Bulgaria: Antoaneta Stefanova (2531) is currently rated #12 in Bulgaria, just barely outside of the top-10.
    • USA: There are apparently 27 active male players in the US rated above Anna Zatonskih (2511); I haven't heard of half that many (which is why I thought to inquire), considering the US Championships where some of the few participants are rated below her.
    • Qatar: Zhu Chen (2490), originally a Chinese player apparently, is rated #3 in Qatar.
    • Turkiye: Ekaterina Atalik (2474) is #8 in Turkiye.
    • Peru: Deysi Cori (2386) is #12 in Peru.
    • etc.

What is interesting that perhaps no other country has such a highly rated female player (except Polgar) among the top 10 men.

It is just a matter of time before the Chinese men will match Hou Yifan's accomplishments.
