The HD Bank Cup in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam ran from 2-7 March.

The competition was a 9-round Swiss event, with 93 competitors including 15 Grandmasters led by top seed Le Quang Liem.

But it was the 28 year-old Chinese player Ni Hua (pictured) who took first place and $10,000 with a score of 8 points.

The time control was a fairly speedy 90 minutes plus 30 second increment.
