Welcome to this great tournament everyone. Thank you all for joining. I created this tournament as a way for the team to better get know each, as well as have some fun.

Some of you may have never spoken to one another or even known some of your opponents were in the team. Now you can get to know each other and most likely strike up some good friendships.

Lets play some great chess. And,I think we may have few shock results in some groups, as some of the lower rated players are better than their rating suggests.

Battle commences when the list is full.

Best of luck to all and thank you again.

Group 2 of this tournament is really interesting, guys. A possibility that 4 members of the same group may advance, what a battle...unless I've got my sums wrong

More Tournaments

Ronboy | Mar 10, 2013, 6:26 AM

Guys,I think some of the lower rated players maybe wondering how they are supposed progress in the tournie the way the groups are laid out. But some are doing well and hopefully this will help improve your game faster.

I believe Enzoboxer will be setting up some more tournies where the ratings are more or less even. So when this happens, I will be donating some prizes for the best performers.

In the meantime, keep on enjoying this tournie

Wine Winner

I like to say thank you to JamesHill. He explained to me that he lives abroad and so thought it best to decline his prize as the cost of sending it would be far more than the prize.

I'd like to apologize to all far this oversight of mine,i should known that not all entrants live in this country.

HOW THE TOURNAMENT GROUPINGS ARE DETERMINED

Ronboy | Feb 8, 2013, 4:47 PM

Ok, guys. I thought it would be a good idea to explain how the pairings in the tournie are selected, because I'm sure some of you were wondering. Hope the explaination below is ok with you all.

For multi-group tournaments, players are placed into groups starting with the highest rated player sequentially down to the lowest rated player. For example, in a 25-player tournament with 5 groups and 5 players in each group, the top rated player goes into Group #1, 2nd highest rated player into Group #2, 3rd highest rated player into Group #3, and so on. After all groups are comlete, it starts all over again at Group #1. So, for example Group #1 would have the following seeds: #1, #6, #11, #16, and #21. This is done to try and ensure that in the final round, the best players will be left playing for the tournament win.

We Have A Winner

Congradulations to JamesHill, who is the first person to win his group and will recieve a bottle of wine. With one game left to play I have declared him the winner having looked at the others groups progress.

Well done, James
