Hooray! Our goal right now is #208th place or better. But let's talk about 216, and other cube numbers.

First 16 Cubes:

  1. 1^3=1 happy.png
  2. 2^3=8
  3. 3^3=27
  4. 4^3=64
  5. 5^3=125
  6. 6^3=216
  7. 7^3=343
  8. 8^3=512
  9. 9^3=729
  10. 10^3=1000 happy.png
  11. 11^3=1331
  12. 12^3=1728
  13. 13^3=2197
  14. 14^3=2744
  15. 15^3=3375
  16. 16^3=4096 happy.png

Units digit:

Ends with one, cube ends with 1.

End with two, cube ends with 8.

3, 7

4, 4

5, 5

6, 6

7, 3

8, 2

9, 9

0, 0

Now let's go further.

If the unit digit ends in a 5, we can actually conclude the last 3 digits of the cube are either 125, 375, 625, or 875. Those are just the odd multiples of 125 less than 1000.

If the unit digit ends in a 0, we can conclude the last 3 of the cube are all 0s.

If the unit digit ends in a 2, the cube must be a multiple of 3.

Double-check that your cube can be written as a product of cubes.
