A genuine question for you guys (please answer).
With an even higher emphasis on new members, I highly recommend you read this all, but if you're short on time (or attention), then just read the areas in bold.
I (the owner) have practically left this club to fend for itself, due to commitments outside of this club and chess.com. Clearly, I'm not the person that deserves this club the most, and it's almost certain that I'll be searching for an owner soon. What truly confuses me is that this club is still growing at a record pace! Not only are members not leaving, they're actually continuing to join this club at a rapid rate. Despite very few events being available to join, we still are seeing very high amounts of participation in the few that there are.
Now, I did run a quick check on the last few members that joined, and I noticed something very interesting. Over half the members are in this club only, and most are in very few others (the most out of our recent new members in the last few days is 12). And no matter what I can think of, I haven't the slightest idea what it is that draws you guys (who are mostly here to play chess and the Italian Game ) into what is designed to be a more social area. Unless chess.com's algorithms have picked this up as a great club (which I highly doubt), then there's no reason that we should be losing next to no members and gaining 3-ish members a day, especially in this time of great inactivity. Maybe some of you don't care as much about what happens here, and just join so people can see that you're an Italian Game person on your profile (I hope you guys care a little
)
So I'm faced with a pretty big problem here. On one hand, I want what's best for this club, and I'm not the best option for owner any longer. On the other hand, whatever it is I've done has consitently preserved and grown the members and activity in this club. Not to mention that it seems to be drawing people into what is the incredible place that is chess.com's social area.
So here's my question: what is it that's keeping YOU here in this club? If it's nothing, then I take no offense in you leaving. Bonus question if you want: what do YOU think is best for this club moving forward, keeping in mind that I don't want to treat it like a share of a stock.
