CCC Newsletter: September 25
Welcome back from vacation everyone! As summer wraps up, we’re excited to bring back our City Creek Chess League this upcoming Fall.
That being said, we will still have a monthly quick event, but we will have it one week earlier!
August Recap:
Just a quick shout out to our club for winning the Tri-Club Arena! Our club faced off against the Summit County Library Chess Club and the SLC Chess Club, and won with 42 points! We even saw three players of our club take first, second, and third!

We also had our CCC Monthly Quick and saw 10 USCF-rated players and one Community section player, compete in one cross-paired section.
After four rounds, we saw: 1st: Lenden Ray Rhodes (4/4pts); 2nd*: Yuun Kim (3/4pts); 3rd*: Jason Barton (3/4pts)!

Upcoming Club Events:
- (Fridays @ 7PM) Weekly Casual Meetup: Bring a board or find an open seat for free, casual games of chess! Perfect for beginners and club players to play and practice.
When: Every Friday from 7pm - 9pm
Where: Kneader's Bakery & Café (28 State St #235, Salt Lake City, UT 84111)
*League Note*: We will continue to host casual meetups even on league days.
- **NEW DATE** (9/19) CCC September Quick Tournament: On 9/19 @ 7pm MDT, join us for a four round tournament with G/10+5 games per round!

- (9/26) 2025 CCC Fall Chess League (USCF-rated): We’re bringing back our four round, City Creek Chess League tournament this Fall! Players will play one round a night, with each game play at the dual-rated time control of g/25;+5.

Utah Chess Association (UCA) & Community Events:
- (9/13) 2025 Utah Amateur Championship: Players U1800 and unrated, come out and play in the 2025 Utah Amateur Championship!

- (9/27 - 9/28) 2025 Utah Open: More details to come.
- (9/12 & 9/26) SLC Chess Club: Come out from 3pm - 6pm to The City Library in downtown SLC for some free casual chess. Chess sets are provided!
