Would you like to work for Chess.com University? If so, it's time to let us know!

We design and offer online chess courses, chess camps, seminars, and much more. We recently launched our biggest project till date, the Chess.com University Prodigy Program. Our primary interest at this time is enhancing the Prodigy Program but we also hope to bring back monthly simuls and other events to Chess.com University in the near future.

We have several openings for both titled and non-titled chess players.

 

General Requirements for all Chess.com University Openings:

- At least 18 years old.

- Fluent in written and spoken English.

- Know how to play chess.

(1) Chess.com University Teaching Assistant - Prodigy Program

*1 job opening only*

The Chess.com University Teaching Assistants serve as aids to Chess.com University Instructors and help create content in Chess.com University's Prodigy Program. Teaching Assistants will also perform tasks such as compiling questions asked by students, analyzing games of students, and answering questions asked in forums. Additionally, Teaching Assistants may be asked to write content for Chess.com University. Teaching Assistants only need to work a couple of hours per week.

Additional Requirements:

- Proficient at navigating Chess.com.

- Premium member on Chess.com.

- Have an official over-the-board rating of at least 1800.

- Have experience teaching chess.

- Excellent interpersonal skills.

 

Compensation: Between $9 and $15 per hour.

 

(2) Chess.com University Assistant Instructor

*2 job openings*

Chess.com University Assistant Instructors teach live lessons in the Prodigy Program, create instructional chess videos for Chess.com University, host simuls, and/or teach live Chess.com University seminars. All current Chess.com University Instructors were once Assistant Instructors. This position is for experienced chess coaches who want to further develop their teaching abilities as they help hundreds or thousands of students improve at chess.

Additional Requirements:

- Rated at least 1800 USCF or FIDE. Titled players preferred.

- Access to good, wired internet connection.

- Access to a computer with a high end Intel i5 processor or any i7 processor. Quad-core AMD processors are also usually acceptable.

- Experienced at teaching chess online. Experience with streaming/broadcasting preferred but not required.

- Available to teach on most weekends between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM Pacific Time.

Compensation: Between $15 and $40 per hour depending on various factors.

 

(3) Chess.com University Prodigy Program Lead Business Associates

Chess.com University Prodigy Program Business Associates have one task: help us get more students. We want to have 1,000 students in this program by the end of this year and need talented individuals to help us out! Chess.com University Prodigy Program Business Associates are expected to contact chess clubs, coaches, schools, and other relevant organizations to spread the word regarding the Prodigy Program. The associates are also expected to distribute flyers, make announcements at tournaments, and form partnerships with other chess entities to reach out to more chess players and potential students. For example, associates may contact chess coaches or large chess clubs and ask them to increase awareness of Chess.com University and the Prodigy Program. In return for their favor, the associates can offer these clubs or individuals commission or certain sponsorship. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity with great earning potential. This position is open to individuals from around the world who communicate well, have experience in sale and marketing, and believe in Chess.com University's mission to take online chess instruction to the next level.

Additional Requirements:

- Excellent, friendly communicator.

- Experience in marketing, customer service, professional relations, etc. preferred.

- Willing to contact hundreds or thousands of individuals and organizations.

- Have at least a high school diploma or GED.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Active tournament chess player, preferably a master.

- College graduate or at least some college education.

- Chess club president, tournament director, or chess events organizer.

 

Compensation: Pay is solely based on commissions.

 

(4) Chess.com University Assistant Director of Instruction

There is not an opening for this position at this time. However, this summer, we will start considering candidates for this position. Only those who have worked as a Chess.com University Teaching Assistant, Assistant Instructor, or Instructor will be considered for this position.
