Rio Saha Takes 2nd at Augusta Prep
Congratulations to our kindergartener-in-residency, Rio Saha, for an incredible performance at the Augusta Prep Day School chess competition! Competing in the K-4th grade section, Rio scored an impressive 4-1, earning 2nd place and bringing home a well-deserved trophy!
Weekly Results Corner
Kid's Night: Congratulations to Rio Saha, who braved the snow storm along with five other competitors and claimed victory at our Kid’s Night Tournament! "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays this chess club from the swift completion of its appointed rounds!"
Thursday Blitz and Classical: A big round of applause to NM Mike Sailer for finishing in clear 1st place undefeated in Thursday's blitz tournament! We’d also like to recognize the outstanding efforts of our runners-up: 2nd & 3rd Place (tie): Arnav Singh, Aarush Panda, Thomas Kemp Jr., Adrian Clements, and Thomas Kemp Sr.

With only one more round to go in January, Rio Saha leads the lower section field by a full point. His older brother Aaryav Saha likewise leads the upper section by a full point. Will the Saha family shut out January classical? Special note to Paul Coulbeck, who had the distinction of the larges upset this week as a 279-point underdog.

Blitz Rating Report
Classical Quad Night: A big round of applause to James MacDougall, Paul Copeland, and James Brandmair for sharing 1st–3rd place in this week’s Dual Action Quads! We also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Maxwell Thomas for making the trip from Georgia to compete with us!

Quad Night Rating Report

James Brandmair writes: "Thrilled with this win against a Goliath 400 points above me! It pushed me to a new peak rating of 1539 in classical. Simple chess, strong fundamentals, and sharp tactics made it happen."
