Columbia Wins Week 2!!
After a draw in week one against Chess long Island, Columbia pulled out a dominating win in week two vs Ayer Chess club of Ayer, MA!
After some negotiating with Ayer they agreed to play the match at the standard date and time of Sat at 1pm. My notice of the normal time change on Friday didn't make it to all in time so we had a lower than normal turnout but so did Ayer. They only brought 3 as well instead of the 5 needed so there are no forfeits.
Thanks to all who could play including Sam Copeland, Mike Sailer, Anpu3 and myself. MVP has to go to Anpu3 who played great chess and all four games against the same opponent in both the Rapid portion and the blitz, winning both in the blitz.
In the Rapid, I found myself in a winning rook and pawn endgame and our game ended first. I got to watch both Anpu3 and Sam Copeland's games, who spoke Dutch rather fluently, and we had a lead. My second game ended quickly again, both wins and Anpu3 clinched the match with nice tactics and a win.
