Daily Matches Quick Update - January 23rd
Quick update with our Team North Dakota club...
We are now at 22 members... need 3 more members to qualify for a number of tournaments and other methods of the teams competing together. If you know of anyone who enjoys chess, please invite them to join.
Daily Matches
Since many of our members have lives and jobs that prevent them from more focused times of playing chess, daily matches are a perfect option that gives the freedom to come and go within the multi-day format. Once question I have is do you all prefer 1-day | 2-day | 3-day | 7-day move controls? I know my preference is to stay in the 1-3 day move window, but if others have different time controls they enjoy, I'll try and find an opposing team for those time limits.
As for current matches.... we still need player for the following upcoming matches:
Szach Mat i zabawy vs Team North Dakota - Chess.com - We currently have two players who joined... we can add as many as we want. (Note: if we ever have "one too many" players, I will always step away to give other team members a chance to compete.)
I just scheduled a new upcoming daily match that I'd love to see people participate in... Team North Dakota Challenge - Chess.com
RESULTS:
CURRENT GAMES:
Team North Dakota vs Massachusetts Matchplay - Chess.com
We are down 2-4... but with two games still undecided, there is still a chance we pull off a team draw.
FINAL:
Team Hawaii vs Team North Dakota - Chess.com 7.5 - 2.5
Team Hawaii crushed us, but it was encouraging to see that two of you got victories and I was able to somehow score a draw. Basically, we were underdogs is ALL five pairings, so I feel we did fairly well.
Chess Matches Club And Learn vs Team North Dakota - Chess.com
We got our first daily match victory here. 4 - 0 Even though it was only two players, it scored a number of points for us.
Team North Dakota vs Mississippi - Chess.com
Finally, Mississippi beat us 4-2 in a tough-fought matchup.
We are currently ranked #8271 on the team rankings for daily matches. But it appears with our upcoming scheduled matches we should start to shoot up the rankings. And again, once we gain the required 25 members, we can apply to enter the "states" competition.
