Quick North Dakota Update
With the temperature outside of -25 degrees WITHOUT windchill, I guess you could say it's a normal North Dakota morning. Anyway, I wanted to say that I've been offered the opportunity (and I accepted) to step up and help this "state team".
My Goals:
- Help get us actual North Dakota members so that we can compete in the "competition of the states".
- Offer opportunities to grow and compete and possibly even some OTB get-togethers.
- I'm a big fan of "Daily Matches", since many of us have lives and jobs that don't allow us concentrated times to sit down for extended matches/games.
Who am I?
- I'm a high school programming and computer science teacher in the middle of nowhere in Mandaree, ND.
- I'm also the chess mentor and coach for our school team. (In fact, I teach programming concepts through the illustrations and tactics found in chess.)
- I'm a 1980-ish USCF-ranked rapid player... and currently, the top-ranked North Dakota online ranked player www.uschess.org/datapage/top-players2.php?state=ND&limit=&maxcnt=200&players=A&rtgsys=4¤t=C
I enjoy chess and I hope those of you on this new team are encouraged at the opportunities of learning and playing better chess. As always, if you have any questions, reach out.
More to come... but I wanted to quick introduce myself. BTW... my username NDMrB comes from being in North Dakota and my students calling me Mr. B.
