En Peasants Open IV

Another Sunday, another great showing by the En Peasants. Another new champion takes the stage, as well, with new club member Crthew going undefeated in 3/3 games to take the gold, becoming our fourth competition winner. Admittedly, the average rating of this tournament was lower than last weeks, with notable ommissions including last weeks champion Danbranch7, or long time contributor and former champion Xavxav3. Here's a rundown of the champions' games.

Round 1 vs UnironicStonewall

A quick, relatively easy win for Crthew, with an early bishop blunder giving an easy conversion. A high accuracy game concluding in checkmate in just 28 moves.

Round 2 vs Bfoster03:

Another rating mismatch, but handled very well by Crthew. The game featuring the club's favourite black opening, the Caro-Kann, which is favoured by both XavXav3 and DoYouLikeCurry. After winning a piece on move ten, Bfoster03 nevertheless held off well for a long game, as Crthew converted to an endgame and gradually stretched his material lead.

Round 3 vs DoYouLikeCurry

The Champion's final game had the most scope for a different outcome, with the winner of this match-up taking Gold. After a strong opening, the game changed momentum entirely with Crthew blundering a knight on the 19th move. Nevertheless, Doyoulikecurry was unable to convert succesfully, and, instead, Crthew was able to find a checkmate sequence. Doyoulikecurry resigned on the 35th move.
