Gorky Stormbringers Put Russian Talents On Display
Nizhny Novgorod is the fifth-largest city in Russia, an important center of industry, transport and science. In Soviet times, this city was named Gorky after Maxim Gorky, the famous writer born here.
The brightest event in the city's chess history took place in 2013 when it held the Russian championship Superfinal with Kramnik, Karjakin, Svidler Nepomniachtchi and other top grandmasters and women's grandmasters. In recent years, the city has frequently held Privolzhsky federal district championships. This district groups 14 regions, whose main cities stand on the Volga river or its tributaries.
Novgorod, a vibrant city.
The team groups proficient players who would like to test their chess skills against opponents from other corners of the world.
