Hawaii Scholastic is #1 in the World!

Yes, it's true.  After winning the first match of the 2022-23 Season of World Chess Live, the Hawaii Scholastic team is the ONLY team with a win so far.    Most matches start next weekend.

Check out Benjamin Kim's beautiful move 29... e3! in his second game with Peter Hornsby, the director of the league.  With the score tied at 4.5 - 4.5, this dramatic tactic caught the commentators by surprise and led Hornsby to panic with 30. h4??   But black was going to win quickly even without that blunder.
