2022-23 Chess Calendar for K-12 Students
Tournament Flyer and Registration Form
- Where: Princess Ruth Ke'elikolani Middle School cafeteria, 1302 Queen Emma St, Honolulu, HI 96813.
- Four Sections: Primary (K-2); Elementary (K-5); Intermediate (K-8); and High School (K-12).
- Prizes: Trophies for individual 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section. Medals for winning team members.
- Entry Fees: $20 for players who register at least 48 hours before the tournament begins. $30 afterward. $10 discount for additional family members.
- Time Control: Game in 40 minutes with a 5-second delay. Blitz chess is 5 minutes with a 3-second delay. (Clocks and chess sets provided at event.)
- Keeping Score: US Chess Federation requires players to keep score (does not apply to Blitz games or to K-2 section).
- Dates:
September 17: 4 round 40/5 Swiss then 5/3 Blitz
October 22: October Scholastic 5-round 40/5 Swiss
November 11-13: Hawaii Open at the Entrepreneur's Sandbox at 643 Ilalo St. in Kaka'ako.
November 19: November Scholastic 5-round 40/5 Swiss
December 17: First Day of Break 4-round 40/5 and Blitz 5/3
January 16: MLK Day 5-round 40/5 Swiss
February 20: President's Day 5-round 40/5 Swiss
March 25: Kuhio Day Weekend 5-round 40/5 Swiss
April 15: State Scholastic Championship Tournament (determines representatives for Denker, Barber and Rockefeller tournaments) 5-round 40/5 Swiss.
May 29: Memorial Day - Girls Championship and 4-round 40/5 Swiss then 5/3 Blitz
